| Way of the Cross Procession through Downtown Chicago ... |
On Good Friday, April 10, 2009, the Way of the Cross Procession
took place stopping at several locations throughout Downtown
Chicago. The Procession was led by the Most Reverend Thomas
J. Paprocki, auxiliary Bishop of Chicago, and was sponsored by
the Catholic lay movement Communion and Liberation. The
procession began at Daley Plaza and continued with stops for
singing and meditation at Federal Plaza, Millennium Park,
Tribune Towers, the Water Tower and then concluded with the
last meditation in front of Holy Name Cathedral. I felt that this
procession "out in the real world" was a unique way to
commemorate the sorrowful walk that Jesus took on the way to
his crucifixion. A large cross was carried at the front of the
procession, traffic was stopped for us, and some people watched
us and others joined us as we walked along our way. I've
included some photos on this page and the following pages from
